Polis Raises...?...in Q4

Democrat Jared Polis announced today that his campaign had raised $1 million through 2007, but it does not indicate how much was raised in Q4 alone.

Polis raised about $650,000 through Q3. so we assume that means he raised $350,000 in Q4 – although there is no indication as to how much of his own money he contributed last quarter. Either way, a million dollars in one year is certainly impressive. Click below for the full press release.

Jared Polis, 2nd congressional district candidate, today announced that his campaign has exceeded $1 million in fundraising, making him the first open seat congressional candidate to reach the landmark number.

“Our numbers reflect amazing momentum and the strong support of a collective voice for the progressive reform and change that my candidacy represents,” said Polis.

Former State Board of Education Chairman and entrepreneur Polis, 32 has held a steady lead in overall fundraising through the course of the campaign without accepting any donations from Political Action Committees (PACs). “In not accepting PAC money, we are making a statement about the need for campaign finance reform and reducing the influence of the special interests.”

Known best for his contributions to public education in Colorado including founding the Jared Polis Foundation, which provides computers and technology to underserved schools in Colorado, Polis has also founded two innovative Denver charter schools, the New America School and the Academy of Urban Learning.

The 2nd congressional district race is one of the most highly contested open seats in the country and was recently ranked by Congressional Quarterly as one of the most expensive.
